Which types of hair loss do you treat?
Our dermatologist-developed Hair Loss Formula was created for people with female pattern hair loss (also known as androgenetic alopecia). This is the most common type of hair thinning, and is often seen as a widening parting, or less volume at the crown of the head.

We may also be able to help if:
  • You've been losing more hair than usual for at least six months (chronic telogen effluvium)
  • You want to encourage thicker, healthier-looking hair


If you're not sure if you have hair loss, or what type you have, our dermatology team will assess your hair loss during your consultation.

This treatment is subject to approval by our team of clinicians.

Our service isn’t suitable for every type of hair loss. At the moment, we don’t treat scarring alopecia, alopecia areata (patchy hair loss), or hair loss caused by medical treatments like chemotherapy.

How does Dermatica’s Hair Loss service work?
Our hair loss service begins with an online consultation, where you’ll answer questions and upload photos for review.

A UK-registered clinician will assess your information and determine whether prescription treatment may be appropriate for you.

Treatment plans are personalised, and suitability and response can vary between individuals.
When will I start to see results?
Everyone's hair grows differently. Most people see fuller stronger hair in 6 months.
Can I use it if I already use a Dermatica personalised formula?
Absolutely. Dermatica’s Hair Loss Formula is a separate service to our skin treatments and is only applied to the scalp. This makes it safe to use alongside a personalised skincare formula, as well as your usual skincare routine.

If you’re subscribed to both our skin and hair services, you’ll see both subscriptions in your Dermatica dashboard (near the top of the page), so you can manage them side by side. This means you can update your photos or check delivery dates for each one separately.

Please note: You should only ever use one personalised formula for your skin, and one formula for your hair at any one time. Using too many active ingredients on your skin or your hair can cause irritation or negatively affect your results.
Does it make your hair greasy?
The formula’s designed to absorb easily and feel light on your scalp, so your roots shouldn’t feel greasy or heavy afterwards. For best results, you should aim to leave your Hair Loss Formula on for at least 4 hours before rinsing.
Are there any side effects?
While they're uncommon, side effects can happen in very rare cases.
